Your help is needed to help at a planting event and watering assistance.
Please review the available slots below and click on the button(s) to sign up.
PLANTING EVENT
* We will be planting native plants (e.g. wild geranium, Virginia bluebells) in the woodland area of the park that bloom early in spring to provide pollen for the federally-endangered rusty-patched bumblebee, which has been found in the area.
* This planting will also benefit other pollinators and increase the species diversity of the park which makes healthier ecosystems, healthier people & communities, and a healthier planet.
* Saturday, June 3 from 9 AM-noon is the main planting day and Sunday, June 4 is the backup in case of bad weather, so if you are interested in planting, please sign up for June 3 and indicate your availability on June 4.
WATERING ASSISTANCE
* Water will be provided by the City on-site and will involve filling watering cans and walking around the site to water plants which will be flagged.
* Please sign up for a week (or more). We estimate that you will need to water three times a week and it can be on whatever day/time based on the weather. The optimal watering times are before 11am and after 4pm.
* This is a great opportunity for groups looking for a meaningful service activity to give back to the community. We will email each group and connect all the members so the group can communicate and plan together and we can pass along any important info as the season progresses.
* Watering volunteers can request a meal voucher as a thank you for assistance.

Thank you to the Parks & Trails Council of Minnesota for funding the project. Thanks to the City of Northfield for providing a water tank and water for the project. And thanks to all the behind the scenes volunteers who helped plan the project.
And, thank you for your interest and help making this happen!
