What is a Rummage Box? Rummage boxes are themed collections of familiar, safe items that residents can touch, explore, and talk about. They are designed to: Provide comfort, Stimulate memories, Encourage interaction and storytelling

Example Theme: Recipe Box

Include items like: Recipe cards, Cookbook page copies (newspaper clippings), Measuring spoons/cups, Empty spice jars, Food labels or packaging, Grocery lists, Photos of food, Oven mitt, Simple or non-working timer


Conversation prompts may include: 

“What was your favorite recipe?”

“Did you cook for your family?”
